Hotel Design Cornwall. Interior Design Masters Winner Banjo Beale

Review: Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr Season 4

As lovers of all things interior design and styling we are always on the lookout for new series featuring the latest in design. We had put the release date for the latest season of the British series: Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr in the diary. Especially after thoughtful and resourceful designer, Australian-born Banjo Beale won the last season.

Watergate Bay, Cornwall, designed by Banjo Beale. Elliott White Photography from House Beautiful.

This season, the unbelievably quick-witted Alan Carr continues to lighten the mood whilst providing astute (and at times scathing) observations about  contestants' designs made palatable through his humour and that oh so bright smile.

What else is there to love? A sense of realism (for a reality television show). Contestants must meet client briefs under strict time constraints in diverse and often commercial settings for the ultimate opportunity to win a contract to redesign a top London Cocktail bar. The result: It feels a quick course in the latest interiors trends and styles in the UK.

The show is fast-paced and doesn't fall into the trap of being drawn out in the style of shows like Master Chef or focus on drama between contestants. This, combined with the ever elegant and earnest Michelle Ogundehin gives the series a certain authority. Her integrity and gentle strength makes her feel like the boss that you would never want to let down.

All in all (we are currently half way through the season), the Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr in its 4th season is still one to watch in 2023.
