Old Cardboard Hat Box from Bon Marche Department Store Paris

Old Carboard Hat box from Bon Marché department store in Paris (founded in the 1800s- the worlds first true department store).

There is writing in old fashioned handwriting on top indicating this box was previously used to store sewing materials.

A rare find given the delicate nature of cardboard hat boxes.

Please note this does not include a hat.

CONDITION:
Good condition commensurate with age and delicate nature of cardboard, with some damaged & signs of wear. This includes a tear at the back of the box visible on interior and exterior, a less obvious tear beneath the 'R' in Marché, and signs of wear on top and bottom (please see photos). There are also marks and discolouration.

There is writing in old fashioned handwriting on top indicating this box was previously used to store sewing materials.
